¨All aspects of work relating to the optimization of insect management technologies, including compound dilution, formulation, application, experimental design, implementation and execution.
¨Extensive laboratory, greenhouse and field experience.
¨Plant production and propagation as necessary to support research efforts.
¨Insect culture and production as necessary to support research projects.
¨Data collection, analysis and report generation using a variety of software programmes.
¨Write and present internal and external reports and summaries, which may include scientific manuscripts.
¨To control or eliminate pests in infested areas without destroying other forms of life.
¨To develop ways to trap insects or to sterilize them so that they cannot reproduce.
¨To control the population of destructive insects.
¨Supervises laboratory and field surveys for the detection, identification, and classification of insect pests.
¨Analysis, evaluates and makes recommendations on insect damage or potential damage to crops.
¨Provides information and training to staff on insect detection, identification and pest control methods.
¨Assists in pest exclusion, nursery regulation and pesticide use enforcement.
¨Assists in the deployment of beneficial parasites and predators for biological control of target pests.
¨Prepares and maintains entomological reference collection.
¨Maintain records and prepares reports of tests and surveys conducted and submits reports to the management.
